Langtang valley, popularly known as “The valley of glaciers” is third most popular trekking destination in Nepal beside Everest and Annapurna region. It is narrow valley hidden between soaring Himalaya ranges to the north bordering Tibet and slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. Located just 150 km north of Kathmandu, this trek offers authentic cultural experience, stunning natural beauty, magnificent mountain scenery with glacier, waterfalls and diversity of floral and faunal species.
A 7-8 hours switchback drive through fascinating mid hill forest, waterfalls, rivers, terraced fields and small villages takes you to Syabrubesi at comfortable height of 1,550m. Following our Lantang trekking itinerary, we start trekking from lower section of Langtang region and come across quaint villages, cultivated farmlands and lush forest to reach Kyanjin Gompa. As we reach Kyanjin Gompa, the forest and terrace field changes into alpine scrub vegetation and open rocky ground. A climb to Tresko Ri (5,000m) ensures the extra-ordinary view of sunrise over the Langtang range horizon. The Langtang region straddles to Tibet and once known as important trekking route. We ascend in a very gradual pace that ensures proper acclimatization and micro-exploration.
Following the itinerary, we walk across the “Langtang Village” which was adversely destructed by devastating earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015. 11 day Langtang Valley Trek ends as we descend back to Syabrubesi and drive back to Kathmandu via same route. Langtang valley trek is an ideal option for novice trekkers and families – with well supportive teahouse to accommodate you all along the trail.
