Located to the summit of Chhukung glacier amidst of Ama Dablam and Lhotse peaks, Island peak is one of most sought trekking and climbing destination because of its challenging and rewarding geographical conditions. The mountain was named “Island Peak” by expedition team of Eric Shipton for its awe-inspiring locations in the middle of the Chhukung valley, like a floating island on a sea of ice. Island peak was first summited by a British team in 1953.
Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse, is great introductory expedition for most of the climbers seeking to summit the peaks above 8,000m. After getting all the climbing gears checked, we catch an exciting flight to the STOL airport of Lukla to start our trip to Island Peak. We join the main Everest Base Camp trekking trail and follow the Chhukung trail on our way to Island Peak. The climbing leader will provide special climbing training at the base camp to boosts up your confident and teach the best way of using climbing gears like ropes, ice-axe, crampons, ascender, descender etc. These skills help climber scale the summit safely and successfully.
The Island Peak summit trip initiates very early in the morning with an interesting scramble on a rocky trail to a glacier. The climbing leader will help fix new ropes to ensure safe climb at challenging 60 – 70 degree slope to the summit. The summit features awe-inspiring view of Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m) Lhotse Center (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) to the north and magnificent view of Ama Dablam (6,812m) to the south. The mountain is the extension to the south ridge of Lhotse Shar.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport (1,300m/4,428ft)
Day 02: Flight: Kathmandu – Lukla (2,800m/9,184ft) and trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft) – 40 min flight – 3-4 hours trek
