Ama Dablam Expedition

After breakfast, we set for guided city sightseeing tour. We explore the cultural, historical and spiritual landmarks of Kathmandu. We visit the ancient Durbar Square, Pashupatinath (revered Hindu sites), Swyambhunath (famous 2,000 years old monkey temple) and Boudhanath (largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal). Interestingly, these all sites are protected under UNESCO heritage sites.
After the tour, we get our climbing gears checked by our climbing experts and make necessary preparation for next day trip.

After breakfast, we drive to domestic airport and make a Trans-Himalayan flight to Lukla. We enjoy the stunning mid hill scenery dotted with religious centers, villages and rivers along with magnificent Himalayan views. Upon arrival at Lukla, we meet our rest climbing staffs and begin our trekking to Phakding.

After breakfast, we walk through the forested route of pine and follows the bank of Dudh Koshi River. After walking for an hour, the grand view of Mt. Thamserku comes into the picture on our right. Further, ascending through the lush forest of pine, juniper and fir, we cross few suspension bridges to enter into the village of Namche Bazaar.

This is the first scheduled acclimatization for Ama Dablam expedition. Health expert recommends at least 24 hours of rest period. We suggest you to stay active, climb high and sleep low.
Only Namche Bazaar in entire Khumbu region offers restaurant, cyber cafes, ATMs and bakeries. You can explore the colorful market every Friday evening and Saturday morning. Visit Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park to acquire much information of the local culture and floral & faunal species.

Today, we hike to Khumjung (3,780m) which exhibits much more cultural experience than Namche. Further, hike-up to Everest view hotel (3,880m) for more exploration.

We follow the main Everest trail and pass several tiny villages and cross the Dudh Koshi River. En route- we enjoy the best view of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. Further climbing through the steep trail, we reach Tengboche monastery and explore the surrounding area. We climb down for a while to reach the village of Debuche where spend overnight.

After, we walk across the village of Pangboche to reach Pheriche. Pangboche is picturesque village which displays the stunning view of Everest, Ama Dablam and Thamserku to the north, Kangtaiga and Kongde ragne to the south and beautiful Imja Tse River flowing through the stunning landscapes of the valley. After short hike, we ascend to the beautiful valley of Pheriche.

This second scheduled acclimatization for Ama Dablam expedition. Acclimatizing at Pheriche minimizes the risk of getting affected by Acute Mountain Sickness. Today, we climb high above the Pheriche village to adopt in cold and thin air and descend to Pheriche village to sleep low and warm.

Walking through the village of Pangboche, we cross the bridge over Dudh Koshi River. Next, we join the trail that climbs up to Ama Dablam Base Camp. Ama Dablam Base Camp is wide and open grass land nestled at the lap of Mt. Ama Dablam.

Today, we acclimatize and make pre-training climbing for next day Ama Dablam Expedition. Our climbing guide will provide you the technical knowledge of using climbing gears like ice axe, climbing boots, crampons, harness, ascender etc.
The pre-climbing training enhance your confidence and skills.

We climb up to Camp 1 (5,700m/17,400ft) along the classic route. Usually, one night is spent in the Base Camp for acclimatization before returning to the Base Camp for final preparation to summit the peak. We have cross three camps before ascending to the summit. The climb to the Camp1 is quite technical and challenging. From camp1 to camp2, we climb through well-established route connected with fixed rope and establish new ropes if necessary. The ascent from Camp2 to Camp3 comprises the mixture of rock, snow and ice. Climbing from Camp3 to the summit is quite less challenging and technical.
After we summit the peak, we retrace back to the base camp via same route.

After breakfast, we take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu via Trans-Himalayan route. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, we take a rest day off. In the evening, we attend on a farewell dinner organized by Alpine Glacier to celebrate successful completion of Ama Dablam expedition.

The leisure day at Kathmandu is usually made to compensate any possible delay of Lukla-Kathmandu flight. If the flight is made on time, we enjoy full day exploring the new and interesting places of the city.
