The self-imposed isolation policy and tourism limit policy has helped protect its fragile nature and culture.
This mysterious country, which is about half the size of Indiana, is nestled between its husky neighbors China to the north and India to the south. With more than 72% of land area still under forest cover, the country is well-identified as one of the ten bio-diversity hot spots in the world. The eco-system of Bhutan harbors more than 770 species of birds and 50 species of rhododendrons along with astonishingly variety of medicinal plants and orchids. The geography of the country varies from subtropical savannahs to forest to soaring Himalayas that protects the country’s eastern border.
