Visa Regulations for the Kailash Mansarovar Overland Tour 2026

China has now made it possible for foreign tourists to get an individual Chinese Visa if they prefer to enter Tibet or China directly from their home country.

This means you no longer have to travel to Kathmandu and spend an extra three or four days waiting for the group visa to be processed. We will take care of the obligatory Tibet permit for you.

However, if you would like us to handle your Chinese Visa as well, please understand that you must be in Kathmandu four office days in advance during weekdays so we can arrange the Group Visa for you.

It is because, to get into Tibet from Nepal, you will not get an individual visa but a Chinese group visa, for which you need to be present at the Chinese embassy in person to submit your original documents along with your fingerprints for biometric registration.

The embassy will safe keep your passports for verification and will return them along with the group visa. Kindly know that a group visa is issued as a single visa for all members of the group, which means everyone must get in and out of Tibet on the same date.

Getting a Nepal tourist Visa for tourists is easier. Instead of making a trip to the embassy or consulate office of Nepal in your home country, you can simply open the Nepal Immigration government site and click on the tourist visa.

You will be presented with the online registration form, where you will have to input your information and attach your digital photo. Once done, press the submit button and get the personal barcode.

Now print the form and the barcode and show it at the immigration counter at TIA. You will have to make the payment of US Dollars 50 for a month of Nepal visa at the bank counter, get the receipt, and show it at the immigration counter, after which they will stamp your visa on the passport. This procedure will apply also on the land border entry point of Nepal.
